Anonymous ASKED “ Since I've seen people asking you about things from the finale that confused them, I thought I'd give it a try too (er, spoilers, btw). Who destroyed Winterfell? If Theon's men turned him over to the Northerners and left without a fight, then shouldn't Winterfell be just fine? ” Maybe the Ironmen burned it before bouncing… Maybe a random Joe in the party of Northerners who defeated the Ironmen accidentally dropped a celebratory cigarette in an errant woodpile… Maybe the comet we saw earlier in the season led to some weird-ass weather in Westeros and there was a mega-lightning storm that caused a strike or five to light up Winterfell like Baelor’s Name Day*… Maybe I’m not going to give a definitive answer here because SPOILER ;) *not an actual Westerosi holiday |

11 months ago martinusmiraculorum replied to your post: In regard to the season finale, the only thing that baffled me was whatever went on in Winterfell. One moment its surrounded, the next Theon is dragged out, and then it’s burned down and abandoned? What has happened, exactly? Where’d the army go?
I figure 500 Northmen being there, then not being there, Winterfell burning, and the Ironborn dead in the yard (I think) indicates that events proceeded as in the books. That, too. I just went for the glib answer ;) |
